Educator organizers and teacher educators discuss ways they’ve organized labor movements in Oklahoma, West Virginia, and the Twin Cities and teacher education programs in Iowa to bring attention to the role of identity, intersectionality, microagressions, grassroots organizing, and racial literacy in teacher advocacy. This session will share resources used in teacher organizing and education, such as teacher unions, teacher-organized social justice events, and Sara Ahmed’s “Being the Change”. Join this discussion on collective organizing of teachers throughout the U.S. from the perspective of the teachers, organizers, and teacher educators that work with and for the teachers.
