Education Jam 2017

The Free Minds, Free People Conference has partnered with YES! to bring you a YES! Education Jam. YES! will host a pre-FMFP YES! Education Jam to be followed by participation in the FMFP Conference.  See details below…

Are you interested in experiencing transformative education?

Join us for the Education Transformation Jam at the Free Minds Free People Conference.

At the Education Jam, we are bringing together 30 educators to explore transformative education by co-creating it together. We will meet for 3 days before Free Minds Free People and then have cohort meetings each day of the conference to weave our experiences together.

Everyone coming to FMFP is invited to apply for the YES Education Jam.

The Education Transformation Jam is not a retreat, a workshop, or a conference — it is a co-creation with all of our participants. Together, we’ll explore and share practices in popular education, restorative justice, play, arts, movement, place-based learning, radical critique, collective dynamics, mindfulness.

We will get out of our heads and into our hearts. Our goal is to experience ways to create personal, community, and systemic transformation and to hold space for what is alive for each of us. We hold the emotions teachers and learners experience as we try to create a world we believe in –  passion, anger, grief, inspiration, confusion, excitement – in heart and spirit-centered ways. Play is deeply integrated into the Jam, because it unlocks our creativity and rejuvenates our vision.

We will explore questions about:

  • Power and compassion in education
  • Race and gender as generative forces in learning

  • The power of play and creativity

  • Nature and technology

  • Connections between inner transformation and systemic transformation

When: July 3-9, 2017 (we’ll meet for three days before FMFP and then join FMFP together).

Where: Farm of Peace Retreat Center, Warfordbsurg, PA

If you are interested in the Jam, we would love to have you join us. You can find more information and an application here: http://www.yesworld.org/edjam2017/ .  Space is limited, so please apply soon.
