Michaela McCoy, Irondale High School
Friday 7/12/2019 - 1:15pm to 2:45pm - Room: Ferguson 90
This workshop seeks to develop educators' current understandings of the racialized experiences of multiracial/mixed race students and create practices to better represent and support multiracial identities in the classroom. Participants will discuss the challenges surrounding multiracial students and the assets they bring to the classroom by looking at historical data, current realities, and Maria Root's "Bill of Rights for Racially Mixed People". There will be work time to share, modify, and/or design new ways to engage multiracial identities in our schools--bring a laptop!
