Joseph Adamji and Roi Ward, Kitty Andersen Youth Science Center (KAYSC)
Friday 7/12/2019 - 1:15pm to 2:45pm - Room: Blegen 240
At the Kitty Andersen Youth Science Center (KAYSC), our work is completely informed by a “STEM Justice” framework. This framework addresses inequities in society by advocating for more than representation in STEM fields by, instead, working to alter science education and engagement and challenge oppressive systems that surround youth. After this session, attendees will understand the meaning of STEM Justice by experiencing STEM Justice both as a participant and a practitioner. Attendees will learn experiential STEM Justice practices that don't perpetuate harmful learning environments and will feel empowered to adapt this STEM Justice Framework into their work and lives.
