Undoing Patriarchy – Internal Action for our Communities

Brooklyn Zen Center
Sunday 9:30 am - 12:15 pm -- COHN 133

Undoing Patriarchy - Internal Action for our Communities is an assembly put together by Brooklyn Zen Center, a center that aims to cultivate an open community based on the Buddha’s teachings of love and interconnectedness and Awake Youth Project, which introduces teens to a path of mindfulness and meditation to transform harmful behavior, deepen emotional awareness and live in accordance with their most authentic aspirations. The goal of this assembly is to highlight how patriarchal expressions-of-self may perpetuate and generate forms of oppression as we begin to develop a relationship to a more sacred masculinity. In this way, efforts in this assembly will not only further our own liberation, but also begin to cultivate interconnectedness and a human world where both the sacred feminine and masculine are held in loving balance.
