Given the benefits of play-based learning for children's overall development, it should be a right for young children. Yet play has been largely eliminated from urban schools focused on closing the achievement gap. In this workshop, we will discuss the benefits of play and strategize to build a case for play in school by repurposing the language of school reform. Participants will leave with resources and an action plan to advocate for play in their own schools.
