In this workshop, we will introduce participants to Augusto Boal’s Theatre of the Oppressed (TO) practice and use interactive TO exercises to consider our own roles in experiencing, perpetuating, and/or challenging systems of oppression in our schools and classrooms. The goal of this workshop is three-fold, to; 1) cultivate analysis, 2) identify opportunities for subversion and resistance, and 3) provide people with an introductory understanding of how to utilize TO in educational spaces.
