Young people who have experienced difficult things in their lives and/or in their family and cultural histories have significant lessons to teach the adults who teach them. This workshop will (1) centralize youth voices in a conversation about “trauma”, (2) facilitate stronger relationship-building between youth and adults who represent institutions that shape those youths’ experiences in formal and informal education, and (3) refuse pathologizing responses to “traumas” and instead move towards humanizing and healing.
