Friday, 11:30 am to 1:00 pm -- Rm D-107

This research/paper presentation shares the voices of 11 committed urban STEM teachers of color to examine what keeps them in the classroom. Findings indicate that their longevity relates to their commitment to the community and their desire to serve as a positive role model for students of color. The second half of the session will engage in a workshop discussion of challenges and best practices of teacher retention in session participants’ own contexts.
