WE ARE STILL HERE: Building a People of Color-Led Ethnic Studies Movement in Chicago

David Stovall, Noemi Cortes, Cecily Hensler
Friday, 11:30 pm to 1:00 pm -- Rm 2

Despite centuries of miseducation in U.S. public schools, WE ARE STILL HERE. Ethnic studies is a movement by and for communities of Color to resist dehumanization and reclaim education for self-determination. Our collective of Chicago educators and organizers of Color will share how we are invigorating an ethnic studies movement that is trauma-informed and centers indigenous, queer, feminist praxis, as an intervention to the violence enacted upon our peoples within K-12 and post-secondary schools.

Note: This workshop is intended only for those who identify as people of color.
