54% of high school students report dating violence among their peers. Project Hope, a domestic violence and sexual violence agency in rural Virginia, established a teen leadership program to address this issue. Comprised of juniors and seniors, the team works collaboratively with Project Hope to provide lessons to peers on healthy relationships, organize a Healthy Relationships Awareness Week at their school site, and coordinate prevention campaigns. Participants of this workshop will have a chance to experience a lesson on relationships facilitated by the teens, and to have a conversation with the teen leaders on how issues of dating violence manifests in today’s cultural climate.
