“Pretty, Sexy, Sassy: How Girls and the Media Consumer One Another” is a short film created by Ma’yan’s high school-aged Research Training Interns after 15 months of discussion on oppression, privilege and power. The issues raised in the film are a jumping off point for audiences to discuss their own experiences with media. This session reviews how facilitators can use the film to empower girls’ voices and lift up larger issues of media sexism, gender roles and the importance of media literacy.
