Saturday, 2:15 pm - 3:45 pm -- Sellinger 001

Through the hiphop and art collective, The Raiz Up, Xicano Boricua graffiti artist, NSTRS, will facilitate a workshop on how public art and vandalism can engage critical issues facing urban communities. Their work challenges narratives surrounding Detroit's financial takeover, school closures, gentrification, and water privatization, demonstrating community resistance, connecting experiences to systems, and supporting movement. Participants in this workshop will see how graffiti can be used to speak truth to power. They will discuss critical issues facing their own cities and imagine the role graffiti can take in their public discourse.
