Through a variety of creative and interpersonal medium, we are asking our community college students to investigate civil disobedience and personal protest through creative action and storytelling. Our major framework is Jobin-Leeds and AgitArte’s "When We Fight We Win: 21st Century Social Movements and the Activists That Are Transforming Our World" (2016), alongside texts by Rankine, Gay, Clifton and other black female writers. Through a series of activities and discussion, this workshop objective pursues student responses to and awareness of injustice in their schools and communities.
