Michael Ray
Friday, 2:15 pm - 3:45 pm -- Maryland 058

This presentation incorporates cultural awareness and inclusion into all parts of the teaching practice: curriculum, instruction, and assessment. It offers strategies for creating writing assessments for ethnic, linguistic, and economic minorities based on critical/ analytical work in African-American traditions. By the end of the demonstration, participants will have experience in creating a matrilineal interview poem from idea gathering to publication. (Participants are encouraged to bring written or recorded words from a woman in their life.)
