Criminalization in the Classroom: “Discipline” and the School-to-Prison Pipeline

Students of color, from low income communities, in special education programs, and who do not speak English as their first language are being targeted for excessive use of exclusionary discipline—such as suspensions, expulsions, and even police searches and seizures. This workshop will include discussions and activities to further our understanding of the role that public school “discipline” plays in the school-to-prison pipeline.
