Stereotype threat is the experience of anxiety in a situation where a person has the potential to confirm a negative stereotype about their social group. Stereotype threat can negatively impact our students’ academic performance both with everyday classroom activities and with high stakes testing. The information is rooted in recent psychological research, but the classroom lessons are created from teachers that are working towards practical solutions for helping students combat the effects of stereotype threat.
