Capes, Campaigns, and Curricula

Samuel Gerlach, Maya Gerlach, & Jennifer Bradley - Carlson 143

This workshop will highlight organizing strategies used by the Philly Children’s Movement in schools and with the wider community to engage young children, older youth, parents and educators in activism supporting the Black Lives Matter Movement. PCM aims to disrupt racism in both relationships and systems and work towards a more liberatory world for all, so we will spend time in the session sharing, brainstorming, and growing our collective capacity for change. We’ll highlight young activist tactics, Blk2School (a campaign  to hire more Black teachers), and moving beyond “windows and mirrors.” This is a youth-led workshop. All ages are welcome, as there will be a mix both minds-on and hands-on activities.
